"I am going to prom this year on a budget and was thinking of getting my dress from you. But when I check your information, it shows me that you are based in China. I'm afraid because many customers got negative experience from China dresses. Then how do I trust you?"
This is a message that we received from our customers. We thought that almost 99%+ customers may concern about this problem. Now we will talk about it. People don't trust China products mostly because of low price, low quality, no returns, late delivery or not same as shown pictures.
- Low Price
Low price is the key reason that people buy from China. As we know, most China products are cheap than local ones. Why? Do we lower the quality to lower the price? Answer is absolutely no! One main reason is the low labor cost in China, so Apple lets China factories to make iPhones. And another key reason is the currency exchange rate and purchasing power. Nowadays, the currency rate between US Dollar and Chinese Yuan is around 1:6. This rate is useless if you don't take international business. But if you do sell abroad, it matters. e.g. a dress cost you 300 USD (1800CNY) in a America local shop while a dress costs around 300 CNY (50USD) in China local shop. This is purchasing power. That means you can buy a same 300USD dress of local shop with 50USD if you buy from China.
- Low Quality
In most customers' opinion (for me as well), "cheap" equals low quality. When Customers receive poor dresses, they will post reviews and feedback everywhere online definitely, while ones with good experence hardly post reviews online. This is why most China websites have so many bad reviews but still many people buy from them. Actually low price doesn't mean low quality. But I have to admit that low quality is the main reason that China websites receive negative feedback.
- No Returns
This is really a big issue when an after-sales problem happens. We just search on the Internet about the dress sellers reviews. Many customers return because they don't like or with size fit issues. Most sellers in China don't in-stock dresses to avoid inventory risk. So when you buy, they tailor. If you return, one can hardly fit your dress size or re-sell. Usually they promise to return or refund for dective, mis-shipped, wrong color or size products.
- Late Delivery
International shipping is quite different from domestic shipping. The shipping time is usually more than 3 days. To save shipping cost, most sellers use EMS, USPS as their primary shipping carrier. And for prom/evening/wedding dresses made in China, they also have a tailoring time which is around 10 days. So this delivery time is much longer than local online store.
- Not Same As Shown
Most online sellers from China steal designer's pictures to show them on their own sites. It mislead customers to make a wrong impression that the two dresses of same pictures are the same one. Actually they are definitely the different ones. This causes returns or refunds afterwards.
If I wanna buy from China, how to avoid all these issue above?
If it is a trust store from China, you can:
- find a clear and delatiled return policy easily;
- contact, chat-online and get response from them easily;
- find a detailed "about us" page;
- find an accurate arrival time;
- find that many social networks share them or they have large active fans;
- find the images they used are unqiue and authentic;
- pay your order in a "HTTPS" link when you checkout;
- find every pages are carefully designed.
Please caution if a store from China:
- has no "HTTPS" when checking out;
- has no contact information;
- has un-authorized images;
